About the Program

Mental Health Programming Resources

Mental Health Resources are designed to be facilitated by  licensed Master or above clinicians. 

Comprehensive treatment planning template that can be readily customized for clients or groups. It includes major goals, objectives, treatment focus, suggestions for counselors, and links to specific A New Freedom and Insight and Outlook workbooks, including behaviorally-stated objectives (and pages for each activity and objective). Program is built on MET/CBT and social learning/self-efficacy models. This plan also provides guidance for counselors with reference to additional treatment issues and DSM-IV criteria.

Includes counselor’s notes supporting assessment and treatment that supports training and guides new program staff. Refers to specific DSM-IV diagnoses, as appropriate.

Supplemental material: comprehensive Counselor’s Manual, MET and Motivational Interviewing Counselor’s Supplement, and treatment engagement resources.

Includes counselor’s and clients’ checklists and individual workbooks addressing this topic or treatment area. Each package is tailored to your requirements and program population. A typical program package includes 5-10 workbooks

Topic Description
Abandonment and Neglect Addresses childhood issues for older adolescents and adults (male and female).
Aggression and Violence Treatment resources for addressing aggression. Specifically designed for young adult and older adolescent populations. May be used as supplement to the anger program resources. Male and female resources available.
Anger Treatment resources for addressing issues with anger. These resources are appropriate for older adolescents and adults and are provided in juvenile male and juvenile female versions. They have also been used with younger adolescents.
Anxiety Disorders Treatment resources for addressing several anxiety disorders. Several program options available for adolescents (juvenile male and juvenile female).
Body Image and Self-Image Identifies and addresses common body and self-esteem issues. These resources are appropriate for juveniles and young adults. Separate resources for males and females.
Codependency Addresses various forms of codependency. Program resources provided for adults and older adolescents (male and female).
Compulsive Gambling Addresses common issues underlying problem gambling. Provided in juvenile female and juvenile male versions.
Conduct Issues (also Oppositional Defiant Disorder and ADHD/ADD) This resource addresses oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, and ADHD/ADD. Resources are appropriate for juvenile males and juvenile females.
Depression Addresses risk factors for depression. These resources are appropriate for older adolescents (male and female).
Handling Difficult Feelings These resources are appropriate for older adolescents and adults (male and female).
Domestic Violence For young women in abusive relationships.
Eating Disorders Addresses common eating disorder issues. Appropriate for adolescents, older adolescents, and young adults (male and female).
Feeling Hurt Guides the process of learning how to handle feelings of hurt. For older adolescents and adults (male and female)
Gang Involvement Addresses gang involvment as a form of dysfunctional behavior. For older adolescents and young adults (male and female).
Grief and Loss Addresses loss and grief issues and guides the healing process for adolescents and adults (male and female).
Harm Reduction Workbook (PDF) for reducing consequences of behaviors.
Helping Treatment Work Workbook (PDF) for increasing treatment adherence.
Impulse Control Provides guidance in addressing impulse control issues. Primarily for females (adolescents and young adults). May also be used with juvenile males.
Self-Esteem and Shame Identifies and addresses issues of self-esteem and shame. Resources for males and females.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Addresses post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Resources for juvenile males and juvenile females.
Self-Efficacy: Coping Skills Multiple workbook resources for juvenile males and juvenile females help clients develop coping skills for specific needs.
Self-Injury Treatment resources for addressing self-injury and impulsive behavior. Available for adolescents and adults (male and female)
Self-Inventories for Recovery Multiple workbooks useful at different stages of recovery. Designed for use with A New Freedom programs but compatible with Twelve Step programs. Resources available for juvenile males and juvenile females.
Sleep Disturbances Resources addressing causes, sleep hygiene, and coping skills.
Special Losses Resources helping clients with significant health issues, including HIV/AIDS.
Women in Prostitution Resources to assist young women with experiences in prostitution.
