Resources for Adult Females Correctional ProgramsA New Freedom gender-specific resource are based on state-of-the-art cognitive-behavioral (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), motivational enhancement (MET), and social learning curriculum. The workbooks, treatment games, skills modeling and role-playing cards, and other curriculum materials build on concepts pioneered by Prochaska, Ellis, Bandura, Miller, Gorski, Gilligan, and Marlatt, and address areas such as cognitive-behavioral (CBT) change, risk/protective factors management, coping skills, and the development of realistic self-efficacy in relapse prevention. The gender-specific Women's Issues materials described below supplement the core New Freedom program resources and address issues specific to women. These resources have been selected for use by multiple state systems, as well New York City jails. We have developed CBT- and MI-based programs for adult female correctional substance and women's mental health facilities ranging from 60 to 400 hours of dosage (program and logic models available). These gender-specific correctional programs can be tailored to all facets of criminal behavior, behavioral health, substance abuse, delinquency, and gang involvement. Please contact us with any questions or use our phone consultation form to have us help you tailor a female gender-specific program to your needs. How does it work?A comprehensive program might consist of hundreds of hours of curriculum and similar resources. Such a program would use initially use materials from our Preparation for Treatment and Self-Discovery workbook series (pre-contemplation to contemplation). From here, specific programming issues are addressed using gender- and age-specific resources (contemplation to preparation), including age-specific materials from the Women's Issues series. Later, specific coping skills are explored (action) and The Returning Home curriculum materials develop post-release protective factors (action and maintenance). Substance Abuse TreatmentComprehensive cognitive-behavioral treatment model, including coping skills, relapse prevention, and risk factors management tools. Supports MI/CBT, individual change model (Prochaska), and social learning treatment approaches for substance abuse treatment programs.
